Three Tools I Use to Fight Croup and Congestion

My daughter spent the night at a relatives house a week and a half ago and brought home a nice gift: a virus. It’s been going through our family and caused croup in my baby and toddler. I am still getting over congestion myself. Here’s a video I made about it on the spur of the moment.

Tool #1-Essential Oils. I’ve been rubbing Doterra’s immune blend  called OnGuard, diluted with carrier oil on their chest and neck (and I drink this in herbal tea too).  I also
rubbed a respiratory blend called Breathe on their feet, which cuts congestion and helps them and me breathe much easier. I’ve also been drinking lemon essential oil in my water, which is gently cleansing and decongesting. My reference guide suggests essential oils of thyme, marjoram and sandalwood, (diluted) so I’m rubbing my baby down with those too.

Tool #2-Elderberry syrup. I was giving my kids Elderberry syrup every few hours to keep things at bay. Today I’ve Read more…

Healing Sore or Damaged Muscles, Tissue & Bone

I tend to hold lots of tension in my trapezius, which are the muscles between the shoulders and neck.

If I do yoga regularly and am keeping those muscles stretched, I don’t have much problem.

But when I’m not doing yoga and I’m carrying a baby or heavy purse around a lot or spending hours at a time on the Read more…

Essential Oil Basics

With seven rambunctious kids, I have to have good home medical tools. I’d go crazy if I didn’t. Essential oils have given me effective and nurturing ways to treat my family’s ills.

I finished a master herbalist degree a couple summers and have been studying essential oils. I still use herbs for various health issues, but I have found essential oils to be much more effective than regular herbs in treating many problems.
They are as potent as drugs, without the side effects. So, even though my husband is an ER physician, I end up treating the Read more…

No More Neosporin: Tools For Infection & Healing

Neosporin is gone for good at our house. We don’t ever look back. My kids know our essential oils and ointment work so well, they’re begging for these whenever they get a scratch (which is about every 10 minutes).

Why would we want a natural alternative to antibiotic ointment? Conventional thinking teaches us that we need to kill potentially harmful viruses and bacteria, especially in dealing with wounds. But what about our healthy flora? Read more…

Slim & Sassy – The Fat Burning Revolution

Hey! This is Emili, Jen’s sister.  I think most of us have a couple unwanted pounds we wouldn’t mind parting with. True? I’m going to share how new Doterra products have helped me and how they can help you shed extra lbs.

(Please keep in mind that I am a stay-at-home Mom that has had some great weight-loss success lately, but I am not a doctor or trained health professional.  I’m just sharing what has worked for me.)

First and foremost, your body needs good food and nutrition to lose weight.  There are many fad diets, magical Read more…

Teething Pain Solutions

Hi, this is Jenni’s sister Emili. I am more of a novice when it comes to herbs and oils, I haven’t taken many courses or had quite the extensive experience that Jenni has, but I try new things and learn as I go. I’ll be posting to share some of my experiences as I have them.

I have a 9 month old baby girl who has recently been teething. I noticed it about a month ago when she started acting fussy for no apparent reason. I decided to try some oils since I know they act quickly.

I took a 4 oz spray bottle and put in a few drops of clove and cinnamon (known to be good for pain and numbing), and some lemon and wild orange oils. The citrus is good for the immune system and it makes it taste yummy. I also added some Pure Stevia Extract Powder. Read more…

Hay Fever Attacks!

Frankly, I’m getting tired of them . . .allergy attacks, that is.  I hear Cedar City has a fairly high pollen count.

All I know is, on and off, all spring and summer I get sneezy, runny nose, itchy throat and sometimes itchy eyes.
I’ve noticed that it’s worse when the clouds roll in.  It doesn’t make any sense to me, but it definitely gets worse when rain is threatening.  When I eat too much dairy, my symptoms are exacerbated further. Read more…

Oils To The Rescue!

My son had his last baseball game of the season tonight.  We do sports about once a year for each child, otherwise our lives are too crazy.  Anyway, I decided to take the kids out afterward for some food and dessert at Hogi Yogi.  I try not to buy things with white sugar, but we splurge here and there.  We ate chicken and brown rice, then frozen pineapple yogurt with raspberries on top.  Sounds pretty benign, right? First Experiences with Essential Oils

After Mike’s residency, he landed a job in southern Utah, where we still happily reside.

I was pregnant with our fourth child when we moved from Tucson to Cedar City, so I started hunting for a good midwife.  I was ready for a different experience than I had had with my previous three births. Read more…
