Frankly, I’m getting tired of them . . .allergy attacks, that is. I hear Cedar City has a fairly high pollen count.
All I know is, on and off, all spring and summer I get sneezy, runny nose, itchy throat and sometimes itchy eyes.
I’ve noticed that it’s worse when the clouds roll in. It doesn’t make any sense to me, but it definitely gets worse when rain is threatening. When I eat too much dairy, my symptoms are exacerbated further.
Luckily, I’ve found something that works. I’ve been taking essential oils in capsules. 3 drops each of lemon, peppermint and lavender. I don’t like tasting lavender, and I have to be in the right mood for peppermint.
So, tonight, my throat started itching and my nose just started running, just a few minutes ago in fact. I drank some water with a few drops of lemon and citrus oil blend.
That is how I drink my water everyday, with whatever citrus suits my fancy, but today I put about a dozen drops of citrus in a capsule and swallowed it. My symptoms have diminished somewhat already, and I know I’ll be able to sleep tonight.
I took Doterra’s Citrus Bliss blend just because I had it in my bathroom. Usually I take lemon and On Guard, Doterra’s immune blend, because I love the smell of them both and don’t mind their taste.
I love doing this! It relieves my allergies, usually for most the day, and it boosts my immune system. I can feel it work! Sometimes I take the peppermint if my allergies are food related or if I want to boost my digestion.
I make a 2 gallon pitcher of water everyday for me and my family. We call it “sassy water.” I add about 10 drops of lemon essential oil, a few drops of the Citrus Bliss, and a shake or two of Pure Stevia Extract Powder, (a natural herbal sweetener).
I can’t get enough of it, and my kids absolutely love it now! When I’m hot, I make water with peppermint, or just rub a drop on the back of my neck, and it immediately starts cooling me down.
What great tools for fending off germs and improving quality of life!
***Post Update: At my herbal seminar in August, James Duke recommended dabbing a drip of citrus oil inside the nostrils. It works. I’ve been trying it. It stops my sneezing fits. It’s nice to have one more thing to try . . .
**Another Update: I did a treament called NAET from a chiropractor in my town. It has dramatically reduced my hayfever allergies and my food allergies. It’s probably taken them down 85%-gone! I should write a post on it…
